PROFESSOR MICHEL GOEDERT

A native of Luxembourg, Michel Goedert is a Programme Leader at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology and an Honorary Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences of the University of Cambridge, UK. He received an MD from the University of Basel and a PhD from Cambridge University.

His work continues to help to elucidate the roles played by the ordered assemblies of tau and alpha-synuclein in common neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Among other awards, he received the Metropolitan Life Foundation Award, the Potamkin Prize and the IFRAD European Grand Prix in Research. Goedert is a member of EMBO, a Fellow of the UK Academy of Medical Sciences and a Fellow of the Royal Society of London.
